Within just a few pages of the book, I was pulled in by the frantic energy and anxiety I could feel from Claire, who has made the trip to New York on the birthday of her son who passed away many years ago. The relationship with teenage Abby then immediately gives the impression of tension and foreboding. I sense that the family dynamics and the tragic circumstances surrounding the first chapter’s trip are setting the stage for a psychological thriller that will be right up my alley.
