I thought this was an interesting concept, but I'm tired of the trope of women being pitted against each other over a man (among other things, in this case a child as well). And there was no leading up to the drama, it starts unfolding immediately. I feel like there should be some sort of story hashed out before the main plot points start happening. And oh my goodness, I only read a bit of this book, but Abby (the daughter) annoyed me so much. It seems to me the author has never spoken to a child and/or teenager in their life.
