First of all, I really like the cover. It is eye-catching. Second, this story has a great beginning. The author put a lot of thought and time into this opening sequence, and it shows. She does a good job of helping the reader feel the emotional state of the mom, the dad's tightness surrounding the situation, the daughter's ambivalence to what is going on.
