Mister Tender's Girl is one of the strangest books I have ever read. It is violent about many sick people who believe in the cartoon character, Mister Tender. They take violent action against Alice who tries to stay sane amongst all the insanity. Mister Tender had it right when he said to trust no one. I could not connect with the characters and did not enjoy being immersed in their lives. Murder, mayhem, it has it all; I usually enjoy a good psychological thriller but this tale had no redeeming qualities. I finished it with the need to read something positive with real, good people populating the pages.
Although well written in first person. it is not an enjoyable story to read and is sure to haunt my dreams for months to come.
