WOW! Just wow. I couldn't put this book down, I carried it with me everywhere until I finished it. This is one of the best psychological thrillers I have read in a long time. This was also based on real events.
Alice was 14 when she was viciously attacked by her twin "friend" while they were walking her home one night. It happened in a parked in London, they stabbed her so many times she nearly died. Mister Tender told the twins to kill her. Who is that? Well he is a fictional character made up by Alice's father, he uses this character in his graphic novels. Alice lived and turned her name from Alice Hill to Alice Grey and she moved from London to the U.S.A. all to try to get away from her past and start a new life.
Alice's mom and brother are also a big part of the start, although I didn't realize how much until the plot was revealed.
This author has a way with words. Alice has crippling panic attacks, Wilson describes them so vividly that I can feel her pain, her loss of breath, when the darkness takes over.
I had no clue who Mister Tender was. The characters were just twisted! It's scary to think this was based on real events. When I finished the book, I was a litte stunned. The plot is unexpected and quite frankly, a little mind boggling.
Any reader of this genre needs this book! Worth all 5 of these stars!!
