Neither this book nor the author were on my radar, so I was surprised when I found myself completely sucked in by the excerpt almost immediately. Clearly inspired by horrifying real life events, this book ratchets up the tension right away, and it would be interesting to see if it can maintain that compelling start throughout the story.
