I wasn't really drawn in by the cover but gave Mister Tender a shot anyway. And, man oh man, this book reads like the Cadillac of creepy psychological thrillers.

The author jumps right in, giving the reader just enough detail about the main character and her back story in the first few chapters but not too much. The suspense is nice and steady.

Now that I have tuned in to Alice and the horror that has come to dictate her every move (down to the damn kitchen knives!), I could care less what the cover looks like. You can count me in for sure.
