I got this book for free from Bookish First. It wouldn't have been my first choice of reading, but I have been pleasantly surprised. The beginning is a touch slow, but everything does pick up in just a few chapters. This book is hardily reminiscent of We are the Brennans, just a bit less in nearly every way.
The Joseph men are a mess. Baylor can't keep his lust to himself, Waylon had to grow up too fast, and Shay needs a mother. Mickey needs a lot of things, neither of which were Marley or Elise.
There is still a bit of dissonance in this book. In one motion, each of these characters act like they should. In the very next, everything gets a little bit pear shaped. However, I understand that this book is a work of someone's heart and I am not disappointed that I spent so long working through this. I hope this author will continue writing and developing.
