This book was about a young girl in the relationship with each member of a roofing family back in the 1990s. My overall impression is that it was an engaging, heartbreaking and heartwarming story of found family and the complicated relationships that families have. I really enjoyed the character development and the different aspects of her relationship with each of them.
I ended up listening to a good portion of this on the audiobook, and I thought the narrator did a great job, telling the story and keeping up with the pacing of the story. I definitely would recommend the audiobook for people that enjoy that as it was a great performance.
I really enjoyed how there was a little bit of a mystery to go along with the story as that’s not normally something that might happen in the book that is a strong character novel. It out of a nice layer of interest to the story.
