This book was quiet in terms of plot and storyline, but it still packed quite a punch!
Mercury follows an ordinary family doing ordinary things, but the theme of the book is what draws you in. Marley and her mother, Ruth tackle the tough stuff, like identity, loyalty, love, marriage, motherhood, and sacrifices we make for family.

The beginning felt a tad slow, but once Marley starts interacting with the brothers, it picks up pace.

It's no "edge-of-your-seat" but this book is still a page turner. The family drama is beautifully written and moving. It's definitely more character driven than plot driven, and our author does this really well by how she lets the characters grow and develop.

One thing I didn't care for in this book, however, (and the reason for one missing star) is the time jumping. It would jump ahead a few years, and then a few months, and then give us a flashback. I didn't see the point in doing that. I would have much preferred this kind of story being told in chronological order.
