Not Really For Me

I will give this credit in that it was a family saga that I ultimately read all the way to the end.

I do feel, however, that many of the scenes that took place in this book felt a bit unbelievable to me. Now, this book is obviously literary FICTION, so I wasn't expecting the events to be true--just, believable. So when I came across some situations that felt like a bit of a stretch for me personal taste, it kind of pulled me out of the story.

Unfortunately this book also had some plot holes that distracted me while I was reading.

I think the biggest thing for me was the characters. I liked Marley enough, but she was the only character really that didn't fall flat for me. I don't even need characters to be likable for me to root for them; just in this case, I wasn't really rooting for the rest of them.

I'm glad most readers seemed to love this book though! And hope it will continue to find its audience.
