4.5 stars because the ending was a little slow and dragged out. Another great read by Burns. I will read anything she writes. She writes about ordinary and extraordinary things so well, and makes them devastating, which gives off a realistic feeling when reading. This reminded me a lot of The Connelly's of County Down which was also a family drama.

I read this because I really liked Shiner, it was a cross between The Invisible Hour and Go as A River two books I deeply enjoyed due to the cult themes and family drama. I truly enjoyed this story and the three women that revolved around it. The author did a nice overlay and replay of events told from different perspectives that sealed the fates of other characters, which I thought kept me reading. I usually don't like reading the same events from other perspectives, but it was needed in this novel for the plot to develop and make sense.
