If this isn't a full fledged family drama, then I don't know what would be! Amy Jo Burns gives us a read that 1) keeps us guessing until the very end and 2) will keep us questioning for weeks after flipping the final page. The character development alone gives such huge depth to this read. But combining her characters with beautiful language and surprise turns throughout, Burns gives readers an unforgettable read. From the first few pages alone, I fell in love with this read and knew that I then needed to get other Burns books in my hands in the future.

To call this one strictly literary fiction is a miss. There is so much mystery intertwined in the story. I'd also go so far as to say this one could be southern literary fiction - there are so many moments to this story that would make you think it could have just as easily taken place in rural NC as opposed to Philadelphia.
