As a someone who grew up in the 90's and is a sucker for any nostalgia of those years, Mercury's blurb already had me sold. Add in dysfunctional family dynamics, a character driven story, a touch of romance, and a coming of age story...I could not wait to dig in to Amy Jo Burn's newest effort!

Mercury is a slow burn but I was able to slowly read and really soak up the story of Mercury, Pennsylvania and Marley West and the Joseph brothers.

Mercury, and other books written in a similar style, have a way of taking something so very ordinary and presenting it in a way that is anything but. It feels you're hearing a story about real people with real lives and problems just like you and I. Complicated. Messy. A bit dramatic. But none the less...real. & even the best families have secrets they'd like to keep hidden. But what happens when those secrets start coming to light?
I had not heard of Mercury before Bookish First but was super excited to see it is also a pick for Book of the Month! 4 stars.
