I enjoyed reading this book. I liked the plot and the setting. The characters felt very real and the conversations even felt real. I could imagine this book being a film with serious actors.
I like the main character, Marley, but I can't really relate to her, so I think it took me out of the story a little bit. It felt a little like her personality depended on the people around her and what was happening around her, rather than her personality affecting the situations. But this did add a good blending to the story. It's just not something I could latch onto. I felt like the theme of what it is to be a woman in a predominantly male family was overdone.
But this didn't take away from the book too much. The mystery element was a great addition to the story and I loved how the author navigated the dynamics between different characters. It felt like I was reading a true story from someone's journal.
