I would definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves emotional novels that dive deep into family drama.

I think one of the biggest successes of this novel is that the author did an excellent job of really fleshing out their characters. They feel so fully realized, so three dimensional - and that is really a testament to the author's skills at diving into these characters. She does not shy away from showing their deepest vulnerabilities, and diving into the good, the bad and the ugly.

For me, I definitely found this to be more of slow burn - I came expecting a little bit more emphasis on the mystery (I mean - an "eerie discovery in the church attic"! I expected some real mystery there.), but I instead found myself really gripped by the characters themselves and the author's exploration of family dynamics. She takes her time really allowing this story to unravel in a way that was wonderful to read.
