I'm Completely Intrigued
I'm completely intrigued by the first four chapters of Mercury by Amy Jo Burns and am very eager to read the rest of this well-written family drama.
The mention of I-80 makes the story relatable to me, and two key scenes happening in a church makes it very interesting as religion and faith in "general market" novels is my bookish catnip.
I need to learn more about this family of men and the strong but few women in their lives. And then there's the mystery of the body found: who is it? what's the cause of death? how did the body come to be in the attic?
The cover makes perfect sense once I understood the family business. The paint peeling off the building represents the dysfunction of the Joseph family and the hard times of the town of Mercury.
