This seems like a original cool mystery, that has me VERY excited as a 90s baby, I often see stories take place like this in the 70s and 80s because of the whole 'nostalgic stranger things' trend - so I'm happy to see the amazing decade get some love. I think there is also a lot to love, as I feel like this deeply relates to women, coming of age, and the struggle of survival.
