The cover is inviting and upbeat, but it seems to belie the story. I enjoyed the writing style as it comes across as a friend telling the tale of her life. It was somewhat depressing, though, as the family struggles with finances as well as in-family feuds. I can only hope that the ending is brighter for the Josephs and that Marley comes out unscathed from all the events.
