Valora is a half Chinese, half English young lady, attempting to gain passage on the Titanic to head to New York to find her Brother, Jamie. Val's story exemplifies the struggle that many have when they are of two cultures-- not "British" enough to easily gain passage (even with a ticket!) in the 1st class area, but not Chinese enough to easily get into the 3rd class area with the other Chinese. This is a struggle that many have, and I loved how that was highlighted in the first 20 pages of this book.
Overall, this book was very engaging and super easy to get into. Within the first chapter, I couldn't wait to find out what happened to the characters. I want to see that Valora finds her brother, and where her story goes. Can't wait to read more!
