Almost everyone is familiar with the story of the Titanic, the unsinkable ship that met its tragic fate one cold winter night. This story let us imagine the journey of one of the many passengers aboard that ship. Although purely fictional, the poor treatment faced by the protagonist as a person of Asian heritage is very real and once again familiar in modern times. As she forges her own path to America in search of a better life with her brother- Valora Luck is filled with hopes and dreams she is determined to bring to fruition. Unlike the reader, she is unaware of what await her on her voyage. I am invested in reading how Valora perseveres because she has already proven to have an admirable determination and cunning to get things done.
