Want to find out where this story is going

The story seems to be going back and forth in time. It starts with Cohen finding his father on the floor bleeding from his head to Cohen being nine years old. Cohen walks away believing his father is dead but it’s not clear as to what happened to his father. Then it moves on to talking about things Cohen did at nine years old. The twist comes when Cohen gets a call from Beth that he and his sister need to get to the hospital al because his father has been taken there. Definitely need to find out where this is going.

The cover of the book is beautiful and fits wonderfully with the title. At this point I’m still not sure what the title means but I know the story will help answer that question.
