The first thing I noticed about Light from Distant Stars is the beauty of the book itself. I know that doesn't have much to do with the contents of a book, but it did make the book more of a delight to read. Fortunately, the words inside the book are pretty beautiful too.

In addition to the beautiful writing style, the beginning of this story seems compelling. The boy's father is dead, and he doesn't seem to know how it happened. The father is a former preacher, but he did something wrong at some point in the past and was kicked out of the funeral home. So what did he do? Is it related to what's going on now? I don't know! The first part of the book makes you want to read more though.
