Past His Time
Wilbur Smith seems to have made his living writing stories about macho men and the pretty, well-intentioned damsels in distress that get railroaded by them. This is yet another one of those stories by all indications - the wealthy, titled white families that have taken land away from native tribesmen in Africa (recently back from fighting WWII of Europe - because of course!) and of course the Africans don't like that. I'm sure there's still an audience for his books but they feel dated, out-of-touch and tired to me.
