This book by Helen Hoang quickly became one of my favorite beginnings to a series, ever! Extremely misleading, the cover looks light and fluffy and almost like a closed door romcom. But it’s not. It’s spicier than you think! Add the spice to the diverse characters (Chinese and neurodiverse!) and you have one amazing little book. I loved it so much I immediately went ahead and got the last two books to read too!
Things that I liked about this book included the Autism representation, the financially struggling male main character, and the protectiveness he displayed once their “relationship” began. I loved the peek into authors culture that she gave us, and one of my favorite scenes is the dinner scene. IYKYK.
If you like quick reads, found family, autism representation, a diverse cast of characters, unconventional strong men and women, and, of course, SPICE, then this is definitely a book for you!
