OMG! How did I not know about this series sooner?

I recently was browsing the shelves of Barnes & Noble when I noticed a tag on this book. It was one of those “staff recommendations” that really don’t mean a lot when you don’t know who they’re coming from. But, the ASD representation got my attention. If I’m being really honest with you, I don’t see out representation labels, but I do have an kiddo on the spectrum, so it caught my attention.

I decided to check the book out from the library because STEM isn’t my jam and the reviews could definitely be better. I’m SO glad I didn’t listen to the reviews! (And clearly it’s been a well loved library book! 😜)

Stella is a beautifully written autistic character and OMG I love her. There’s no “standard” for autism (like Helen describes in author’s note), but gosh this representation was SO very well done. The acceptance of her (and her literal-ness 🤣) had me in tears! 😭

This one gets a 100 stars from me.

Disclaimer: I’m the mother of an autistic child which is entirely the reason that I love it so very much. Helen Hoang beautifully wrote Stella and brought ASD awareness in the best way. Thank you, Helen! 🧩
