I really enjoyed this story, especially since it featured characters we don't often see in mainstream literature. Stella, the romantic protagonist, is autistic. Reading this, I felt like I could see the world through her eyes and understand not only her difficulties, but also her strengths. Because this was written by an author with autism, Stella is nuanced and well-rounded, not defined solely by having autism.
I especially loved how Stella's autism was an important part of building up the tension in the plot. A lot of romances seem to rely on miscommunication to build tension, and though this had that, it was because both characters had to learn how to best communicate with each other. I also loved the idea of Stella hiring an escort to teach her how to date, and how that led to the romance and all the complications. A lot steamier than I usually read though.
