I received Kiss Quotient for free in exchange for an honest review. I was really looking forward to reading it, as the main character has autism. The quick summary is that she finds out that her mom is expecting grandchildren, so she decides she needs to get married. To do this, she figures she must get a boyfriend, and to do that, she needs to be better at sex. She isn't a virgin, but has only done it a few times and really didn't enjoy it, so figured it was because she was no good at it. In order to accomplish this, she hires an escort. They "work together" at her problem. The escort has personal issues of his own stemming from his thought that he needs to take care of his entire family and all of their issues-- financial and otherwise in his father's absence. The families meet and an arrangement turns into a real relationship and I won't say more as I don't want to ruin it for anyone.
Things I liked:
The main character was very different and flawed. We don't see enough flawed characters. It was interesting to see this perspective. The author reveals in her writing after the story that she discovered that she has autism (mild obviously because she didn't figure it out until she was writing this book and is married with a family.) Parts of the main character's interactions were very sweet and childlike. It was a happily ever after-- I like those-- so sue me.
Things I didn't like:
The main character seems extremely intelligent. I understand that she has autism, but what I don't understand is why her first solution to getting married and having a family was hiring an escort. I know hind site is 20-20, but when has that ever worked out without family/friends finding out and lots of drama ensuing?
I believe this is the author's first book and I did enjoy it and look forward to checking out her next work.
