My first entry into "romance" and it was delightful.
I have never tried to read romance novels before, but this one caught me by surprise. I loved the main character, Stella, and how the author wrote about her experiences of being on the spectrum. Her STEM job and desire to learn more about sex and intimacy was a captivating plot point. This book is smart, sexy, fun and surprisingly deep and somewhat steamy.
I read this book before it was hyped up on bookstagram so I didn't have any expectations going in. I think this is another reason I was so surprised by how much I loved a romance novel, and the endearing characters. This book is easy to read, easy to get into and easy to enjoy.
We need more stories like this that break from the norms. It is refreshing to have a unique perspective on female intelligence, power, and sexuality. I am looking forward to reading more from Helen Hoang in the future.
