This is a funny, lighthearted, surprisingly smutty fast-paced romance novel that’s driven by character development (the heroine’s) more than by its plot. The characters are lovable and there’s a nod to intersectionality with an Asian American main character on the autism spectrum (though not identified explicitly as such, if I remember correctly).
I would rate the book 5 stars for the surprising sex scenes, 3 stars for the portrayal of autism in women, and 1 star for the rest. I rated the book 3.75 on StoryGraph because I really did enjoy those sex scenes!
The plot line fell flat for me as I found it trite and predictable. None of the characters except the heroine are memorable to me a few months after reading the book.
Having said that, I think this book (and presumably, the rest of the series) could make for good romantic comedy adaptations.
