The Kingdom of Liars could have been good, but it spends almost 600 pages seemingly going around in circles without accomplishing much. Michael has never gotten over his father being executed for killing the king's son, and so begins his quest to ferret out the truth about what really happened. Along the way he abandons friends, overlooks his surviving family members feelings on the matter, and makes alliances with people that have agendas of their own - all while trying to get close to the king through various events at the Endless Waltz. And the king's son has it out for him so naturally these events spiral out of control too. This is an awful lot of pages to dedicate to someone who spends most of his time not understanding the value of family and friendship, and without moving the overall story forward very much. While it isn't bad per se, it really needs a more likable protagonist, and a more condensed storyline that gets more accomplished.
