First off, I want to say that I thoroughly enjoyed this book and flew threw it in record time for the length.

You start off learning about Michael Kingman. Through history, the Kingman family has stood by the side of Royalty. Disaster strikes the Kingmans when Michael's father is convicted of killing the price and heir-apparent. We see the struggles that Michael goes through in the aftermath of this fathers execution and his journey to find the answer as to why his father committed the murder. There is plenty of politics, violence, and drama throughout the story to keep any fantasy fan intrigued.

I felt like, even though the story was entertaining and relatively easy to follow, there were some holes in the details that the reader needed in order to make sense of the world. I didn't understand the significance of the moon breaking apart or how the Kingman children were bound to the Royal children, and the war that was brewing and how the Mercenaries fit into all of that. I also felt like Michael's character was hard to connect with. Every time I thought that I had him figured out, he would make a decision that was completely against what I would have thought and something that didn't really go with his motives.

Overall, the action was great and I enjoyed the ending. I know that this is the first in a series and I am anticipating reading the next book to see where the story will take us!
