Enjoyable with lots of future potential
Mystery, magic, murder, and secrets! Royalty, nobility, mercenaries, and slaves. This book had it all. I thoroughly enjoyed The Kingdom of Liars. The storyline was intriguing, and there were definitely a couple twists that I did not see coming. It was chaotic but, somehow, it worked. I personally did not develop a strong connection or attachment to any of the characters, even the lead protagonist. The only character I truly found interesting and wanted to learn more about was the mercenary, Dark. And I believe that was because he was mysterious and there was a lot left unanswered about him. I do feel like a lot of these characters have a ton of potential. I just think that this world is going to have to be investigated and built throughout a thorough, exciting series, and I’m here for it! The book left off as if it could have a follow up book, and I certainly hope it does. I would truly like to learn more about this world, it’s people, it’s politics, and it’s magic system.
