The Kingdom of Liars is a fantasy that takes place in a world where pieces of the moon, which is shattered, constantly fall, and where Fabricators, who are essentially specialized magicians, make up the vast majority of the Hollows (the kingdom where this story takes place), but can lose their memories because of their powers. Our main character, Michael Kingman, is a headstrong, fire-tongue 18 year old who had been branded a traitor because his father before him allegedly killed a prince, along with his younger sister Gwen and older brother Lyon. He starts out the story as a desperate young man trying to cure his mother's insanity as the rest of his family falls apart due to the strain of trying to stay afloat financially and emotionally. We later find out that everyone in the Kingman family, who were once second only to the Throne, are each sworn to protect a different member of the Royal family, although they haven't been around them since the murder of the first prince.

The Kingdom of Liars was very much a mystery novel, and the scheme that was playing out throughout the story was complex, and was quite shocking once revealed. I think that it was very interesting, although I found the world somewhat confusing in the beginning. I also found Michael to be very much a "paragon;" everything he did was in the name of his friends and family. I feel like his character still needs some more building, but I think that it can be done throughout the rest of the series. I am also excited to see how the Princess's character will turn out, and if there will be a romance subplot in the series.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book; even though it was insanely long(about 600 pages), I didn't feel as though it was too drawn out or wordy. Overall, I'm excited to read the rest of this series when it comes out, and I think this novel made a good first impression!
