I was pretty surprised at how long this book was. Just over 600 pages. To be honest, that made me a little nervous. I'm not a fantasy person to begin with, although there are exceptions, so looking at a fantasy book that is over 600 pages, I wasn't sure I would be able to finish it or even want to finish it.
But, shocker, I did!
The whole story is told from Michael's POV. The beginning is really about setting the groundwork for the story and the action starts a little less than midway through the book. While, the story did hold my interest, I was invested in the story to the point where I couldn't wait to get back to reading it. At times, I found Michael a whiney. He doesn't really think about what his actions will do to people and I couldn't get on board with a main character like that. So at the end of the day while this wasn't a bad book, it wasn't a fantastic book either. For me it was "Ok" hence the three star rating.
