The writing style is not one I'm fond of. The first section is the main character essentially going "oh, woe is me, my life is so hard." He hardly reacts to an assassination attempt with the simple "The assassin didn't even scream when his plan failed" which assumes that he knows everything going through that guy's mind. I'll pass.
