I'm a sucker for fantasy and the cover of this one grabbed my eye right away. The premise sounded interesting - magic costing memories. It reminded me of the Magister trilogy where magic costs life energy. I'm interested where the story will go. I feel like starting the book with an execution sentence prologue and then the first chapter with "this is how the story went" is a bit cliche, but the writing style felt natural and immersive. I'd love to get a chance to finish the book!
