This first impression is very slanted, in that I don't like fantasy fiction. This story starts out full-on fantasy and quickly turns me away. I don't like the "beasts" or the language, and the cover and title doesn't intrigue me at all. The writing is of quality, so it would probably be enjoyed by a fantasy reader, but I'm not one.
