While I was very excited anticipating the reading of this new young adult novel “Keynan Masters and the Peerless Magic Crew”, I was instantly disenchanted with the beginning. I continued to read hoping for a storyline and plot that would totally engage me and found it a chore to return to the novel every day. Still, I plodded on day after day, page after page. Ultimately I had to just accept that despite the author’s best attempts to make the main characters interesting they simply lacked depth and good, thorough, character development was sorely lacking. The story had potential to be better and more engaging but honestly the writing was very simplistic and basically not engaging at all. Since this is essentially a novel meant for young adults this may not even be a problem. The premise for the story is not unique but simply good enough
