Judge's Girls is a great book that covers the topics of family, love, and race. When Greorgia's Judge Joseph Donaldson passes away, his daughter Maya and his second wife have to learn to deal with each other in a whole new way, without their father/husband as a go-between. Maya insists that Jeanie get help for abusing alcohol so she can take care of her teenage daughter, Ryder.
The story is told in three perspectives, from each of the three women, and it was interesting to see how each perceived the relationships with each other and between the other two. It is written so that I found myself rooting for each character to find the happiness they deserved.
I won this book from #BookishFirst, and would recommend it to anyone that enjoys a contemporary read that flows easily, with a high family value, lovable characters and a little southern charm.
