Though the excerpt is fairly short, I felt a kinship with the main character. The perspective was great and that she described what was happening to her but also what was really going on in her mind. There was also a sense of humor wove in the story. The author was very descriptive. I felt like I could see the scene in the church with the aunt wailing and falling on the floor in her “Mad Hatter’s hat“. I was surprised by the element of romance and delighted to see another side of the character. The character development made it easy to identify with her anger and her grief. I felt myself not liking the stepmother for no reason other than the main character that like her! I hope to be able to finish the story which is already got me entranced. I recommend this book and author.!
