Immediately I was turned off by the title. I'm not a fan of referring to grown women as "girls" even if meant in a playful way (e.g. "daddy's girl"). Despite my dislike of the title, I went ahead and read the synopsis and tried to read the excerpt. The synposis read like typical a chick lit-esque book. As for the excerpt, well, I just couldn't get into it. It didn't draw me in, didn't make me want to keep reading. Some of it was the MC, Maya, came across as rather flat. Also, I thought it would've been better to start off with the whole will provision instead of burying it near the end of chapter one. It just didn't work for me.
