Maya is a great narrator, with her coffee mug that says "I like my coffee black - like my soul" and her honest appraisal of her steamy relationship with Roland (it's "not a relationship [but] a long-standing booty call," Maya is able to move the story along. There is humor and heartfelt emotion. This should prove to be an enjoyable and quick read.
