Mixed thoughts
I love short story collections and was interested to read one that's told from a unique perspective, but I have some pretty mixed feelings about the book. The writing is good quality, but I feel like maybe the style just isn't my personal preference, and that did make the book a little hard to read in my opinion. I don't fault the author for that, but it's just my own experience.
There's a lot of heavy topics and subject matter discussed here. There were definitely thought-provoking points made, and you can tell that the author has strong opinions on a lot of topics. I enjoy reading books from those with different experiences and outlooks from my own, but I can't help but think I'm missing some historical and social context that would make the stories more impactful.
As with all story collections, I liked some more than others, but if you're interested, this collection may be worth reading for you.
