While reading this book, I learned a lot about different cultures and I enjoyed the way the characters were written. I liked that no one was particularly depicted as the savior or the good one and that everyone had flaws. One thing that made it a bit harder for me to read this was I felt confused by some of the stories regarding the setting and what exactly was taking place. This may have been because it was my first time reading a short story collection and going from one short story to another may have had me a bit confused. I enjoy the descriptions throughout the book, they are very well done, and feel like the reader is really with the narrator as they are going through their experience. The first did hook me in as you experience with the narrator receiving knowledge and how as you gain this knowledge it can vastly change your stance on something you have believed for so long.
