Interesting premise, boring cover

This one seems interesting, but is ultimately one that I won't pick up to read since I don't gravitate to short story collections typically. The cover was an odd choice, and rather than serving as an eye-catching cover featuring only red and black, it reminded me too much of the book The Vegetarian by Han Kang, and I found it boring as a result.
