I listened to this on audio and I think it helped me get through it. Its not a genre I typically read, but I'm glad I did. I'm trying to expand my horizons in the genres I read.
I thought this was a good book and gave some history of Romania that people probably wouldn't know. Im not entirely sure there are any particular characters I favored, but the main characters were likeable for the most part.
This story follows a young Romanian boy growing up in Communist Romania who has a secret. In order to help his grandfather get medicine, he starts to "spy" for the government, all while also disobeying their rules. He hears the neighboring countries becoming free and dreams of those days where Romania will also be free from communism.
This was my first read from this author but I'll most likely pick up something else in the future. This was 3 star read for me.
