I am a really big fan of historical fiction, and this author and specific worldview is new to me.
The preview that I read if the book was captivating and intriguing and I can’t wait to see how the rest of the story plays out.
Even only reading a few chapters, I am intrigued by Cristian and what his story will be. I really like the short, quick chapters that kept me turning the digital “pages” - just one more chapter, ok maybe one more.
The choppy, right to the point use of language is different from some of the flowery language used by others of the books I usually read, but it somehow feels fitting for a novel with a 17 year old boy as the main character. This causes me to really buy into the story in a unique way and I’m committed to knowing more about this character and his journey in the fight against communism during this time. I’m eager to see how this all plays out!
