I read I Must Betray You back in March, but didn't have a chance to write an actual review for it until now. I sped through this book so quickly; it was such an engaging read. The characters, especially Cristian, were extremely strong and lifelike -- it was easy to forget that these characters weren't actually read people who lived during this time. While this isn't my favorite historical fiction book from this year (that honor goes to Katherine Locke's This Rebel Heart), it is an extremely solid, straightforward (in terms of comprehending what's going on) book that helps share knowledge about a time period that isn't often discussed in historical literature. With the publication of this book and Locke's This Rebel Heart, I hope this means that we're moving towards an era of more post-WWII novels being published. Authors have explored WWII immensely-- now it's time to look at the aftermath of it.
