I am not a historical fiction fan myself. I’d rather read non-fiction and understand the actual events than read a fictional version of events but that is just my opinion. I try to stay up to date on historical fiction though for my patron’s sake. I’ve never read one of this author’s books all the way through before and I won’t be reading this but I am going to look into the history of this story because it grabbed my attention and made me want to know. I think that is part of what makes a historical fiction good, is whether or not it draws the reader into the tune period. I will definitely be purchasing this one for the library and recommending it. My two favorite things about this author is that she writes quality literature every time and I can trust that I’m handing a solid book to a kid. The second favorite thing is that she brings light to history that is not often discussed.
